J. Garrett Grimm has lived in Bozeman for over 35 years, and went to Gallatin Community College and MSU. He earned a degree in Photonics and Laser Technology, and has worked in the optics field for over 10 years.
In 2025, J. Garrett Grimm saw a need for building community in a divided country. He co-founded a non-profit, Gallatin Community Gun Club (GCGC), to build community and foster access to 2nd amendment rights for community members that have historically been excluded.
Since then he has become a certified USCCA firearms instructor and certified Mental Health First Aid instructor. Concepts that are extremely important to J. Garrett Grimm include community, mental health, equality, self-sufficiency, and mutual aid.
With local and national changes in politics and society, including the recent ICE activity in Gallatin County, J. Garrett Grimm saw a need to protect his community and the rights of its residents.
Starting a write-in campaign for SheriffJ. Garrett Grimm aims to equally and justly enforce laws and protect the rights of everyone in Gallatin County.
Outside of campaigning, J. Garrett Grimm spends his free time teaching classes to the community, running food drives, and hosting social events. He enjoys spending time with family, friends, his dog, and cats. He also enjoys being active, spending time at the shooting range, hiking, and rock climbing.
